My Review: Merger to Marriage by Addison Fox

Merger to Marriage (Boardrooms & Billionaires, #2)

From Goodreads:

One night of passion…

Mayson McBride has spent the last decade restoring her family’s magazine empire with her two sisters. She loves what she does, but she can’t shake the feeling something’s missing. Which is why she jumps at the chance–incognito–for a single night of no-strings-attached sex with Holt Turner.

A once in a lifetime connection…

Holt’s been unable to forget the woman he shared one night of explosive passion, and he’s thrilled to get reacquainted with her at a weekend house party. What he doesn’t expect are the immediate feelings of need and desire–emotions he keeps firmly in check–upon their reunion.

A forever commitment…

When Mayson and Holt’s single night together leads to unexpected consequences, both must decide what matters most. Especially when a threat from Holt’s past promises to ruin their relationship before it’s barely begun.

                                    My Review:

This was another book provided by netgalley and my last ARC for the month of May. Here's what I think about the book.

This is the story of  Mayson Mcbride  one of the brilliant Mcbride sisters  who restored and save the almost shaky  Mcbride magazine empire. The three sisters worked really hard for it. And for Mayson this means ALL WORK , NO PLAY.

"She'd known it for months, as she and her sisters worked tirelessly to make something of their lives and their legacy. They all had gifts - Keira for management, Camryn for finance, and her with her eye for design --and they were going to bring McBride Media back from the brick of disaster.."

So, during  her sister Keira's wedding.. she took it as a breather and gave herself a chance to loosen up. It was also that night that she literally bumped into the sexy Holt. Maybe, it was the intoxicating effect of a good wine, their flowing conversation plus Holt's irresistible sexy stares...one thing led to another... next thing they knew .. they were kissing ... and Bam! sexual awareness sparked between them like live wire!  It was supposed to be a one night stand. Yeah. Right. But then...

Mayson tried to shook off that steamy night with Holt out of her head, but she failed. She can't  forget Holt... and his kisses.. and his touch. Same thing  happened to Holt. Even in the middle of his busy career oriented life , flashes of that hot night distracted him!  He wants to see Elizabeth again. (Yes, Mayson told him she is Elizabeth! )  Oh. the confusion!  So, okaaaaaaaaaaay.. it got me a little interested, and I'm a little excited to find out how these two ..uhmmmm horny  executives  find each other again. Ooops!

So they meet again! It should be one exciting  reunion! But then ..another Bam! Mayson found out that she is pregnant with Holt's baby! Oh. Yeah. Now he's the baby daddy! Well, how do you think Holt will receive this overwhelming news?  Of course he'll be shocked! Well, running away towards the nearest exit  is a possible solution. But something  bugged him. True that he has not known Mayson .. Hell! he even thought she is Elisabeth?! So how can you trust someone who can't even tell you her real name? But then there is this  strong desire to protect his baby  and Mayson.. from his evil mother. Yes, her mom is someone he is ..well, he considers a dark past he is not so proud of. He believes that her mother will use this situation against him. He cannot afford it to happen. So he offered Mayson a proposition  . .. a merger- marriage. Like  it's a business deal!  What an ass!  ( ooops again! ) I don't like Holt. Ugh.

But then as the story progresses, the more I saw the other side  of the coin. What  I saw as a heartless Holt is a caring , loving person that is just  totally misunderstood. I saw how he cared so much not only for their baby but for Mayson too. And Mayson? the sweetest! She is adorable, caring , passionate and a no-nonsense kind of a person. And I love it how she can make Holt open up. They are perfect for  each other!

Though  the story was  quite  simple and even predictable...Addison Fox  makes it better  with her  good choice  of words. She really knows how to put it at the right place and  at the right time. The only problem is, I can feel that there is still something missing? Like  more swoon worthy moments ? Or perhaps more drama? Or I'm looking forward for something more from Holt and Mayson?

The ending was cut short. Like everything was resolved too fast.  Maybe it's just me, expecting much from this book. How I wish it  would be a mind blowing.. giddy fest kind of ending. Nevertheless, it was still a good and sweet story .

                                             My rating:

                                  3  happy merging  stars!

My Review: Severed Stone by Kelly Walker

Severed Stone (Souls of the Stones)

From Goodreads:

Immortality is my prison. I broke the bonds of brotherhood because I once loved a girl whose hand was not as available as her heart. Cursed by the gods, I watch countless generations live with the consequences of my transgression. Even with the gift of foresight, I cannot say I would be strong enough to turn away if given the opportunity. And were she cursed to watch the destruction unfold by my immortal side, I would without a doubt make the same fated choices. But Tomorrow is a cruel mistress, and the first death I witnessed as part of my damnation was that of my beloved. -Fidwen Roth

Their story should have been a fairytale, but someone is playing a dangerous game that can only end in heartbreak.

When Ciorstan awakes alone in a field, far from home and more than a little confused, it won't be the strangest thing to happen that day. Ignoring both her intuition and a mysterious but handsome stranger's warning, she allows a dashing prince to take her home to his palace.

Agreeing to marry the prince was her second mistake.

Her next one will rip an entire kingdom apart. Sometimes, true love can be a tragedy with devastating consequences.

                     My Review:

This is my first copy from Netgalley. I am quite intrigue from the blurb and this one's a prequel  to the Souls of the stone plus the cover caught my attention.

As I read this book, I can't help but to notice the unique names...specially our heroine, Ciorstan. It  even sounded like a word from the tongue twisters?! Can we do the tongue twister without reading aloud?   I can't help but smile... and shook my head.

This story is supposed to sound like a regular faerytale but its not. Ciorstan here is a pretty maiden who lives in the middle of the forest with her witch mom.  Yes, you heard me right... witch mom.. well, not the witch with broom type but  one who mixes herbs  and stuff to make potion and probably cast spells. And unlike, Rapunzel when her witch mom tried to hide her from the rest of the world... Ciorstan's mom wants her to marry a prince!  It was talk of the town that the King of Thaelestrar challenge his sons that whoever brings home a bride and produce an heir will be the next rightful king. When her mom brought this up to her, she is hesitant with the idea. But then...

She found herself in the middle of the forest.. being approached by Prince Selwyn.. and eeeeeeep! ask for her hand just like that! Ciorstan did not say No but she did not say Yes either! Looks likes she's in daze? Probably shock? She is overwhelmed for sure! Next thing she knows she.. she is inside the castle to be presented as Prince Selwyn's bride to be! Wait! This is happening so fast! Can I even call this a whirlwind romance when I see no romance between them?!

Then she met Erwyn, and she felt instant attraction and vice versa. Hmmm, so I say, a love triangle in the making? And I was shocked she let him kissed her?!  Then , Erwyn asked her to choose him over Selwyn?! What kind of mess is this???  But then, Ciorstan realized that they might be under a spell? She needs to undo this before its too late!

So, here comes brother # 3.. Fidwen. What can I say about him? He is the one hiding inside the palace library... studies magic , spells etc. Ciorstan approached him to help her undo the spell. But when Fidwen saw her , he felt something. He wants Ciorstan too!  Arrrrgh! So, now 3 brothers are after her hand and heart?! I cannot really connect where this story is heading!  Could there be such a thing as "love quandrangle"?! Well, this is it!

And at last , Ciorstan finally decided to choose Fidwen. And spell and enchantments follows.  The brothers Selwyn and Erwyn left their kingdom . (Just because Ciorstan chose Fidwen?!) . And there's a spell to undo the past but not totally undo?! What... on earth is that?! I was really trying to follow .. but it seems that the story has  been scattered  and then compressed at the end. It did  not make any sense at all.  Yes, it somewhat explained how the three brothers choose to part ways and have their own kingdoms.. but I can feel that there's something missing there.  I  just wish that this story is going to a direction that I could follow...but I stumble and fall  all along the way. I admit that first half of the book got my attention but the rest ..just  came flat. I am waiting for something more but it was not even there.

My Review: Destiny Gift by Juliana Haygert

 From Goodreads:

Thirty years in the future, a sinister New York City exists in permanent darkness.

A student at the secured NYU, nineteen-year-old Nadine has visions of Victor Gianni, an imaginary guy she has real feelings for. Afraid of being truly insane, she explains the visions away as simple daydreams, but she can no longer deny them when she bumps into Victor in real life. But this Victor doesn’t know her, and turns her away. After the encounter, Nadine’s visions change to those of eerie fates, gods she’s never heard of, demons with sharp claws they are not too timid to use … and instructions.

To discover if she’s losing her mind, Nadine follows the vague directions—with the real, rude and reluctant Victor—leading to a man who knows it all: Nadine can restore an ancient creed by unveiling the clues on her visions, and bring sunlight and peace to the world again. But that’s only if the demons and the other evil forces behind the darkness don’t stop her first.

                           My Review:

This copy was provided to me by the author for an honest review. Again, I feel so lucky to be reading  such a very good book!

I'm not really big on dystopian story, maybe because I don't get to read a lot about them. This book is definitely on that genre. A little bit curious, I took a peep.  The setting is in New York after 30 years when our sky is no longer blue... rivers and lakes are polluted... streets are no longer safe. Our world is close to chaos. And there's our heroine Nadine.

Nadine is a student at a secured NYU campus. As I read , I think it's the only place secured. I saw how horrible things outside the school and I can always feel Nadine's anxiety and fear when outside. So, what's special about Nadine? She has this visions that comes like an episode.. she just spaces out anytime , anywhere which she finds  disturbing  ... but it's also something she looks forward to! It's in her visions that she got to be with the gorgeous  Victor Gianni, her Prince Charming.. the man of her dreams!

“All my visions were about the same perfect and gorgeous guy. My dream Prince Charming was called Victor Gianni. He was twenty-three, tall and athletic, with light brown hair streaked by some natural honey-colored highlights, brilliant sea-green eyes, and his smile always made my heart somersault”
“Yes, Victor lived only in my visions, but I was in love with him.”

Her visions about him is so vivid...that she almost chose it more than the reality she's currently living. In her visions, everything is perfect.. the sky is still blue ..our world ..not destroyed. Not until her visions begun to shift.. when suddenly she witnessed  gods and goddesses  in heated argument ...which means more chaos in our world!  And I'm thinking.. This is bizarre!  First, there's Prince Charming ...now gods and goddesses?!  What the ...?!  But wait! What's this have to do with Nadine? Again.. here comes my curiosity...

More bizarre things happen after . When Nadine was attacked by huge , ugly bats that almost got her killed! And then... Of course someone has to rescue her! No it's not Victor!  A little disappointed ...but .. Here's comes Micah!  Gorgeous. Exotic.

“His deep, dark eyes bored into mine, and my breath caught. Unkempt jet-black hair framed the rough edges of his fair face, and broad shoulders were bracketed by his leather biker jacket. Despite looking frightening, he was gorgeous.”

What the hell?! Two gorgeous guys. One in her visions and one in front of her?!  Damn lucky girl! And to add to her luck... a few days after she actually saw and met the real , in the flesh Victor!!!  Wow and wow! Thought she was the luckiest girl alive? Think again. When she met the actual Victor , he is nothing like her "dream Victor"! He is cold , aloof ..the "don't dare talk to me" type! Oh. No!! I can almost sense Nadine's  little bubble of dreams shattered! Poor  Nadine... I told you..not to expect too much! See?!

But then she discovered  that these two gorgeous men have something in common. They both are experiencing this excruciating pain and nothing can soothe... except for her TOUCH! Yeah. Right. So, no matter how Victor seems to be rude to her. He still needs Nadine. So, suck it up, Victor!  I can see myself smirk! Haha.

As her vision became more frequent .. and alarming coming true.. more dangers are coming for them! Demons ,killer bats  and some evil angry gods  goddesses are after them! Together they must act to save themselves!  Their destination : the Clarity castle. And their only guide? Nadine's visions! Can they trust her vision? Will it lead them to the answers they are looking for?

I love how the author describes the action sequences.. the dangerous chase! It was really really good! It was like watching an action thriller film! I can even feel my heart beating fast!

And more revelations are coming.. about the truth behind these gods and goddesses! It was so fast like I have information overload! There are  mixes of flashbacks and visions!  My oh my! I have to pause to catch my breath! Poor Nadine! She is caught between this big war of the gods mess! How can she ever have the chance to stand against them  and even against her growing feelings for both Victor and Micah?!
The ending left me a little ..no.. not a little but more bewildered! Like, in the middle of something really important..cut short! I'm like, what was that?!!  I need to know what happens now! Why does it had to end like this? When I have more questions unanswered?!  I can't wait for more adrenaline pumping adventure  which makes  me  scream : Need the next book ASAP!

                           My verdict:
4 heart stopping  adventure packed magical stars!

My Review: Let the sky fall by Shannon Messenger

From Goodreads:

Seventeen-year-old Vane Weston has no idea how he survived the category five tornado that killed his parents. And he has no idea if the beautiful, dark-haired girl who’s swept through his dreams every night since the storm is real. But he hopes she is.

Seventeen-year-old Audra is a sylph, an air elemental. She walks on the wind, can translate its alluring songs, and can even coax it into a weapon with a simple string of commands. She’s also a guardian—Vane’s guardian—and has sworn an oath to protect Vane at all costs. Even if it means sacrificing her own life.

When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra’s forced to help Vane remember who he is. He has a power to claim—the secret language of the West Wind, which only he can understand. But unlocking his heritage will also unlock the memory Audra needs him to forget. And their greatest danger is not the warriors coming to destroy them—but the forbidden romance that’s grown between them.

                       My review:

The idea of Wind walkers and Sylphs  really fascinated me. This book not only gave me an idea but also a glimpse of these interesting creatures. It's not sci-fi, not gods and goddesses either, this is something new for me! I am fully aware of elements such as earth, water, fire and wind.. but to create a story focusing on one element ...the wind... is literally a breath of fresh air!

Here I was introduced to the four types / House of Wind walkers, 1. Easterlies 2. Northerlies 3. Southerlies and 4.Westerlies. It was really fascinating to know that each differs and something incredible happens when combined or mixed. And quite very powerful when all four combined... even deadly when taken by the wrong hands.

The story focuses on the main character Vane, the "miracle boy"," the chosen one" ... the "boy who lived" . Yeah, sounds like Harry Potter! But Vane is not a wizard or anything like that.  And he is not even aware he is not human. And he is the LAST surviving Westerly!  He lost his parents when the "tonado" / Stormers attacked. And bummer, he also lose his memory!   All he could remember is the beautiful girl who keeps haunting his dreams every night! His Dream girl.

“She’s the girl. The one I’ve been dreaming about since the day I woke up in that pile of rubble and found my whole world torn apart. The only clue to my past. The only thing I see when I close my eyes”

His  Dream Girl. Audra. The one who's been watching him over the years. Sounds like his guardian angel? Well, she's more than that. She is a Wind walker. And a very skilled one. She is also there when the tornado / Stormers destroyed Vane's family. She is also there when her own father died protecting Vane. Audra was part of  Gale Force and made an oath to protect Vane at all cost. She must train Vane before the Stormers finds them and it will be the end of everything. And they only have 8 days to do that! Vane can't afford any distraction... which includes the beautiful Audra herself. He clearly feels something for Audra ...and Audra is feeling the same way too! But she can't ..she must not. Feeling something for Vane is prohibited and yes considered to be a Treason! This is so... Ugh!

All throughout the book, I could see how Audra resisted her growing attraction to Vane. It is quite frustrating  but I understand how she takes her "oath" seriously. As in REALLY seriously! I pity her, how can she sacrifice her own happiness for this? And she carries the guilt. Audra tried to show a hard and tough exterior but deep inside she is just like any normal "human" teenager. She wants to be free...to be loved.  And Vane. Poor Vane , I know how he tries hard to master the four languages ... it's a HUGE responsibility and to think that he is the only HOPE ?! He has to defeat the evil Stormer and take the throne in order to restore harmony among Windwalkers.  And take this: he is already betrothed to someone he doesn't know?!Or even love! How about Audra?! He loves Audra! And if he is to bond.. it will be with Audra. If it is only as simple as that. But it isn't. Looks like we have  another star crossed lovers here!  Arrrrgh! Well, the Stormers have not  yet arrived  but I felt like I've been tortured! I'm in pain!!

As they spend time training and waiting for Vane's breakthrough, the more their feelings grow... and the more Audra begun to loosen up. ( and literally loosen her tight braids! )  And she cares for Vane a lot that she almost kissed him during his dangerous breakthrough.

I love it when the real action begun, when the Stormers came. I can almost picture out their battle. Like I can see huge, dangerous , big winds in all directions. I can feel the suspense and almost at the edge while waiting for Vane's move! And to think that Westerlies are non-violent?! How can he fight when it's not even in his nature?!  So when  Audra's life is at stake, Vane did the unthinkable .. he fought! He saved her.

I also love it the way certain revelations are unfold. When Audra fund out about the truth the day her father and Vane's parents were killed,  it  was something I never expected. I felt relief but also sorry that this happened to her.

I love the twist. But it also left me with questions. The ending is a cliffhanger but it has given me hope for something more in the next book. And I'm looking forward seeing Vane and Audra again.

                           My verdict:

                    4 windblown stars!

My Review: Deeper We Fall by Chelsea M. Cameron

.

From Goodreads:

Two years after her best friend was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury, Lottie Anders is ready to start her freshman year of college. Ready to move on. Ready to start forgetting the night that ripped her life apart.

Her plans come to a screeching halt when not one, but both brothers responsible for the accident end up back in her life again.

Zack is cruel, selfish and constantly rubbing what happened to her friend in Lottie's face.

Zan is different. He listens to her awkward ramblings. He loves "To Kill a Mockingbird" as much as she does, and his dark eyes are irresistible. His words are few and far between, but when he does speak, she can't help but listen.

The trouble is, Zan was the driver in the accident, and now Lottie's discovered he lied to her about what happened that night. Now she must decide if trusting him again will lead to real forgiveness, or deeper heartache.

                                 My Review:

This was given to me by the author for an honest review. What can I say? I expected this book to be good... but I was wrong. It was really , really good!  It was wonderfully written! And I love the shifting of Point of views... It was flowing so smoothly!
Two years ago Lottie , along with her best friend  Lexie,  the brothers Zack and Zan were involved in a car accident that totally changed  their lives. It was hard to move on , specially for Lottie who hovers the guilt  when her best friend never recovered from brain injury. She vindictively blame the Parker brothers, Zack and Zan who's the driver that time.
Now in her freshman year, she and her twin brother  thought of having a new start. So she thinks! Not until,  fate or what she calls Karma that has been messing with her... she finds herself at the  same college..and worse, same dorm with the brothers of doom as she called them. Life indeed is a bitch.
Zack and Zan . Both equally gorgeous . Zan is the quiet, "thinker" one and Zack is clearly the jerk. But he can easily get away with it and Zan tends to take in everything.  He's the one who carried the heavy load of guilt . He's been in therapy ... and he's been trying to cope up. I feel so sorry for Zan..imagine , he's been "crushing" over Lottie for years and then when he had finally had the courage to talk with her.. that accident happen?  Now, Lottie been blaming him and totally hate him and his brother!  It made me say, how could this thing happen?! Why them?! Argh! This so frustrating. But wait? Why am I beginning to love it? Something is wrong with me?! Yes. Chelsea M. Cameron definitely got me hooked !
I love the way Ms. Cameron made their paths crossed ... like no matter how you tend to avoid each other , you always end up in front of each other. And she introduced me to Rumi quotes that I'm beginning to like!

This was especially true for both Zan and Lottie.  I see hatred and loathe in Lottie's eyes but I see the complete opposite with Zan. He truly crazy adores Lottie yet he knows he got no chance ever! But he wanted her so much!

“Maybe this was another part of my punishment from God or “whoever". Putting this beautiful unattainable thing in front of me and then pulling it away.”

Zan took every chance to be near her which at first earned him backlashes and all the effs in the world! Well, Lottie is definitely someone who can't control  her uhmmm... Strong verbal ability. She babbles .. a lot! She is feisty! And she HATES Zan!

I think it's a little  of both Zan's persistence and fate that they ended up really talking in a civilized manner... And maybe Lottie could not really help but noticed that Zan is the lesser evil? She even created a Zan "not talking about " box at the back of her head! And she even made a list!

1. not talking about the rain incident
2. not talking about the towel incident
3. not talking about the you-showing-up-outside-my-door incident
4. not talking about the hand incident
Would she even  include 5. the not talking about the kiss incident too? Which clearly  both of them allowed to happen?!  And for me one of the "swooniest" part of the book?! Just imagine, every time Lottie babbles she gets a kiss from Zan to make her stop?! And Lottie TALKS a lot!!!! I was grinning like a Cheshire cat the whole time!

As she get to know Zan, she is no doubt seeing a different Zan.. He's gentle.. He's deep ..He loves to read! (and quotes Rumi!) ... He recites poem even in his sleep?! ....and he's someone she wants! ( And I want Zan too!!! Where on earth can I find a guy like that?!! ) Oh how Lottie wished  he's a different person! That could make everything uncomplicated. She feels that if she choose Zan  she is betraying her best friend Lexie. But Zan makes her feel special and all the things she have never felt before.Poor  Lottie, she is torned between her best friend and the guy she is supposed to despise but still wants!

But this confusion did not even stop Lottie from seeing Zan... even secretly seeing and hanging out with him! Plus a series of circumstances often lead them ...together. And boy ! I can say those are swoony moments! I love it when they are both lying down and just listening to  Ella Fitzgerald's song, "Someone to watch over me" , I was blown! It was one magical moment for me! And with them holding hands? It was so romantic! ( dreamy sigh! ) There are all the elements to fall in love right? But there's always a reason to hold back?! The push and pull is sooooo frustrating!! Why can they just forget about everything and fall in love?!!!  (Makes me wanna pull my hairs out!!!) But why am I still reading???? Because I love it!!

When Zan finally told Lottie what he's been hiding for a long time? That was... super WOW for me! I never thought about it before . But then Zan is really capable of doing that. I was surprised how  Lottie took and accepted it. It was really admirable. And I heaved a long sigh of relief!

I love the way things and situations are resolved as the story moves on. There is just the right amount of emotion and never overwhelming. Deeper we fall taught me not only about finding love when you least expected it,  but also not to dwell in our past regrets but to move forward by learning to forgive yourself and to  accept that there are things we can't control.

If you are looking something swoony with just the right amount of drama and lot of wonderful lessons in love and life ... this book is definitely for you!

                                  My verdict:

                           4 wonderful stars!

My Review: Suddenly Royal by Nichole Chase

From Goodreads:

Samantha Rousseau is used to getting her hands dirty. Working toward a master’s degree in wildlife biology while helping take care of her sick father, she has no time for celebrity gossip, designer clothes, or lazy vacations. So when a duchess from the small country of Lilaria invites her to dinner, Samantha assumes it’s to discuss a donation for the program. The truth will change the course of her life in ways she never dreamed.

Alex D’Lynsal is trying to keep his name clean. As crown prince of Lilaria, he’s had his share of scandalous headlines, but the latest pictures have sent him packing to America and forced him to swear off women—especially women in the public eye. That is, until he meets Samantha Rousseau. She’s stubborn, feisty, and incredibly sexy. Not to mention heiress to an estate in his country, which makes her everyone’s front-page news.

While Sam tries to navigate the new world of politics and wealth, she will also have to dodge her growing feelings for Alex. Giving in to them means more than just falling in love; it would mean accepting the weight of an entire country on her shoulders

                                   My Review:

I've been browsing  my library for a sweet , swoony light read and this pretty cover caught my eye! ( Actually it's the little tiara she is wearing! )  I've always been fascinated with fairytale-like.. princess stories. Suddenly Royal does have the Cinderella feel in it.
Reading  several  pages, I instantly like Samantha Rousseau . She is a loving, caring daughter ...a dedicated  Biology graduate student whose passionate about taking care of birds and a good friend to her room mates . Little that she knows that her seems ordinary life would soon be change drastically when the Duchess of Lilaria went to visit her University ...and personally invited her for a dinner.
Upon meeting the Duchess, Sam never ever even in her dreams expected to hear a revelation about who she is! That she is the long lost princess they are looking for! Moreover, she is a Duchess?! Sam's world turned 360 degrees. She certainly cannot believe it! Is she dreaming? Probably not! When she can't help but  notice Prince Alex D'Lynsal a.k.a Prince Yummy's  admiring and amused eyes on her! Oh. Yes. Fairy tales won't be complete without  a Prince! And this one ..really lived to his name as Prince Yummy!!!! He is adorably gorgeous!  And can make Sam blush in all kinds of red! I get this look when I think of  him!

With the media constantly on her tail. Her life will never be normal again . Plus her  step dad is battling cancer that when she was offered  a better healthcare facility in Lilaria, she never hesitated to accept it all...including the reinstatement of her title as Duchess! And to be one of the Queen's council, this is sure one the biggest responsibility she has to face. Of course, she is freaking out! Who wouldn't ?! But then, she has to think what's better for her step dad... and Uhmmm, she wants to be with Prince Yummy too! Who swore to be there for her... and not throw her to the wolves!  Can she trust him?  When... he's quite a Ladies' man? Her logical mind says it's a bad idea... but her body had other ideas! She longed to be near Alex ...and his intoxicating kisses makes her entire body weak!
I used to think that kissing under the rain is the most romantic kiss ever. I was wrong!  When Alex almost kissed Sam with great books all over in a bookstore... I was blown! It was uber romantic! Gah!!!! Not to mention he gave Sam a Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen book ...the original 2nd Edition?! How wonderful is that?! Now, I'm desperately praying for a prince of my own!
And I love how they slowly torture each other. It was no secret that they DESPERATELY want to kiss each other ! Hello?! It's clearly written all over their faces in BOLD letters! It was Sam who's prolonging the agony by her NO kissing policy with prince Yummy! I want to strangle her.. really! So what's Prince Yummy's next move? He tease and teased Sam! And here's the catch: He will never kiss her again unless she ask him to! Now, that's what I call, Giving Sam the taste of her own medicine! Haha.  Swony. swoony. swoony!

When they finally gave in... just imagine, clothes everywhere... hurried kisses! I can almost feel their desperation to touch.. to be close ..  the hot kisses... and the bedroom talks?! I was surprised and amused that those words came from a royal mouth!  Not something from my Disney fairy tales! Alex definitely gave Sam the "Royal treatment" in bed! Awwwwwwwwwwwwww!

I love how strong Sam has become, fulfilling her duty as Duchess in a short span of time, bravely facing the adversaries of being in the public eye and adopt changes her new life has to offer.

This book reminds me of  The princess Diaries which I love! And it has the swoony moments  I always crave! And the ending? It was the HEA I ever wanted . And yes !  Fairy tales are real.

“I like it when you’re naughty, Prince Yummy”
“Hold on to your tiara, Duchess.”

                                      My Verdict:
                  4 Royal swoony stars!

My review: Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines

From Goodreads:

Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. There was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.
The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…

                                 My Review:

I love Abbi Glines Fallen series , that when this book came out , I was excited!  And this one's Woods Kerrington story, another fascinating character from that series that I really want to get to know better! The story is taken during Rush and Blaire's time ..same place.
If the Rush and Blaire ( Fallen series) is hot... this one, OMG! A helluva hotter! I should be warned but I was taken aback! I am team Rush ( yes ! I am! ) but Woods? Now, my loyalty is on the edge! The way I'm looking at Woods right now... makes me feel guilty , like I'm cheating on my book bf, Rush! And who could resist this come-hither playboy?! And I just love his sexy stubble! It's kissable.. lick-able ! Oooops! Just look at the cover! Hot! Hot! Hot!
This is how I picture Woods Kerrington.

“He was one of those sexy, beautiful, dangerous ones. I could tell that by the smirk on his face.”

Woods Kerrington is someone you should avoid at all instances  if you are smart. He is  a walking heart breaker! Well, I'm not saying Della is not smart, but the instant she met Woods.. she is really smitten! ( who wouldn't be?! )  The feeling is mutual  when Woods help her pump her gas ( already sounds seductive, huh?!)  He is without a doubt  extremely attracted to this girl with a "body of a sex goddess and face of an angel "!  With Woods dad constantly pressuring him.. He needs a breather.. and little hanky panky ...and Della , being "just passing by" seems to be his perfect hot ticket ! Well, he is out for a surprise!

   Who is Della Sloane?

At first , I am curious about this girl. There is something about her. She seems vulnerable  naive and strong at the same time. I want to get to know her. What or who is she running away from?  What is it she is trying to find in this road trip?
Meeting Woods is a just a  mind blowing one night stand. Or just she thought it would be. Then as I call it fate ..after 3 months they meet  again.  Only this time, Woods Kerrington will be her boss! It was awkward! And  sparks begun to resurface! Old flames begun to burn! Woods never expected to see Della standing in front of him! She is clearly a distraction he can't handle .
Della  knows Woods the one she wants but cannot have. The mere fact that he is engaged?! Yes! Totally off limits!  But Woods made her feel alive. Their chemistry is so intense. It was like .. even at the mere brush of their skins.. they're on fire!  There is this irresistible pull! And the steamy scenes? My golly! It's smoldering!  Abbi Glines , as always pull this up to the next level!
But Woods fell hard for Della. Really hard. Della was his...and he wants to take care of her. I admire Woods, and I can see that he'll do anything for her. He will give up anything for her. Anything including his dreams and his life in Rosemary... and he broken up his engagement to Angelina. Sounds like a happily ever after? But not.  Della has panic issues to deal with.. it's something she tries to hide from Woods. She feared that someday , she'll mentally snap like her agoraphobic mother. This is holding her back. Woods whole heartedly accepted this. He wants Della , issues and all. But Woods family specially his controlling father cannot accept this . This is the big picture they have to deal with eventually.
I love this emotionally charged story. It has the right amount of drama that I could take. And I love how Abbi Glines puts layer and layers  of emotion , leaving me breathless .. then catch my breath again! It was such a beautiful story of taking chances and risking it all for the sake of love.
And the ending? It was a cliffhanger but it gave me a glimpse of what's going to happen next. And I'm sure it's gonna be a bumpy road for this couple . I can't wait to read more.. and will definitely look forward  for Woods and Della's story on the next book!

“You are mine. Do you hear me? You are mine, Della Sloane. I will take care of you. Nothing is taking you away from me. Nothing.”

                                         My verdict?
                             4 swoony  sweetest stars!

My Review: Nowhere by Marysue Hobika

From Goodreads:

A girl named Mike is transplanted against her will to the middle of Nowhere—a town so small that cow tipping is considered to be a fun pastime for teens on a Saturday night! Sure that life as she knows it is over, she meets a boy named Dooner who’s never lived anywhere else and can’t wait to get out of town on the football scholarship that’s going to be his ticket to a better life, away from his father. Sparks fly between them, but it’s not exactly love at first sight.

Will they find a way into each other’s heart despite the fact that they come from very different backgrounds? Will it change how they both feel about Nowhere?
And will Nowhere become the somewhere they’ve been searching for?

                      My Review:

I'd like to thank the author, Marysue G. Hobika for giving me a copy in exchange for a honest review.

It's a city girl meets country boy story. And it begins with Mikayla or Mike ( as she like to be called. ) together with her sister and Mom relocated to a small town after her Dad died. Of course , Mike, having to leave her friends and life in the city behind is super bummed. All throughout the trip she is bitching about how she deserved to be thrown to such a "Nowhere" town.
She thinks its the end of the world .. until she met James or Dooner  . First meeting, she cannot believe her eyes!

“The hottest guy I’d ever seen hopped out and confidently strutted over to where we were all standing. My gaze moved upward from his dusty cowboy boots to his strikingly handsome face. I gasped, in pleasant surprise. I hadn't thought it possible for such a combination of good looks and perfect body to exist anywhere, let alone in Nowhere."
And I forgot to mention , he got these gorgeous green eyes! Uhmm, my weakness! :p  Well, the feeling is mutual as Donner first laid his eyes on Mike... he saw the most striking, beautiful girl he had ever seen! Attraction? Definitely. There's something about Mikayla , the confidence, the no non sense attitude and she is way different from the girls he has known... he can't take his eyes and mind off her. It's insta-crush and insta-love rolled into one!

And I love the little romantic escapades they shared, though a little cliche but it's swoony ...and I can feel the intensity of those moments as written by  Ms. Hobika. Not to mention that both James and Mike are very likable characters in their own ways.

Then as  they spend time together, they realized and quite surprised that they are more  comfortable with each other.. That there is an instant connection.  But Both of them have baggages to carry. Mike begun to talk about her Dad. But Dooner seems to be tense and tight lipped about his father. Mike begun to wonder if there's something  deep down James that he is not telling .

As the story goes on,  both their walls are pulled down.  They have ups and downs but did not take a while  before they resolve it. I'm waiting for  like a big conflict or some revelation that will somewhat be a major turning point in the story... but unfortunately there isn't. I think there should be more...

Overall, it's still a good story about finding true  love in an unexpected place that you consider "Nowhere" ...and  finally calling it your home just like Mikayla felt.

                                                                                 My Verdict?

                                             3 home-mie stars!

My Review: Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins

From Goodreads:

Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

                        My Review:

This has been one of my most anticipated book releases for this year. And I can say that I literally jumped up and down when I finally grabbed a copy! I longed and thirsted for Kaidan Rowe! When I finished reading Sweet Evil , I was crushed when I learned that I have to wait for the sequel for months! So now... it's finally in my hands and I'm reading it... I feel giddy ... and it feels surreal!

After almost risking their lives at the summit conference, Kai and Ana was forced to part ways for their safety. And with of them under the watchful eyes of the demons, they have no choice but do what they are supposed to do. The once super innocent Anna became the popular "party girl" and Kaidan continues promoting Lust. Being apart and nearly losing contact from Kai, Anna with her growing feelings ... misses him so much! And I terribly miss Kai too! And I was beginning to feel cranky that so many pages have passed .. still no sign of Kaidan??? Where.. Where's Kaidan?! Maybe, Ms. Wendy Higgins forgot that he's part of the book? I was close to having my panic attack , but at last Kaidan showed up! Talking about building too much anticipation...clearly, Ms. Higgins knows how to do it!

Their first meeting was nothing I've expected.. yes , there's the long can't look anywhere stare.. which made me squeal yippee! But when Kaidan told Anna she's not for him.. my world crushed! Nooooooo! He turned down Anna? I can't believe it. Anna can't believe it either.
Anna's world has bigger problems than her complicated love life... specially when a huge prophecy was revealed to her. She is the Nephilim that will be the bridge that will  provide the fallen angels with a second chance.  Such a heavy task and a burden to carry. Is she ready for this?

So , almost half of the book Anna is traveling almost across the world ( and it's giving me jet lag , really!) , with Kopano to gather allies as instructed by her dad. Being with the handsome, attractive .. Celibate? Kopano did not really help at all when clearly Kopano has been "crush-ing" over sweet Anna! And I was so frustrated when Anna kiss him back when he tried to kiss her! I am team Kaidan clearly! It was a mistake and I'm glad Anna realizes it . Because nothing compares to Kaidan's Kiss. Period.

And talking about the highly much anticipated kiss... It was .. WOW!!! I can't even put words to describe it. Yes, their kiss from book 1 is hot... but this one? off the charts HOTTER!!! *fanning myself!* The kiss started really painstakingly , toe curling slow to INTENSE kisses for hours! Yes, HOURS!!! Like the entire chapter! Yipeeeee!! All the "about boredom" previous chapters went Poof! Gone. I always love how Ms. Higgins wrote / describe  the kisses, it always make me sigh with a dreamy look in my eyes. It was  always perfect! And one of my favorite moments!

Aside from the kiss,  I love Anna's innocent "little strip tease" number at the pool! It's like saying, "You want a piece of me Kaidan? Come and get it! " Kaidan actually GROWL!!! It must be the sweetest torture for him and  my first time to see Anna a little bolder?  Way to go, Anna!!!  *clapping!*

I also like that there are more action on this book. From the almost helpless Anna  I have known from Sweet Evil, to a butt- kicking , knife throwing Anna. I love the transformation.  And I think, both her, Kai and the other ally Nephs will definitely be an awesome butt-kicking team!

The ending? Thank goodness , it's a cliffhanger my heart can totally handle! It definitely gave me something to look forward to! More action.. adventure... and steamier kisses from Kai and Anna! *excited!* I'll start counting the days ... probably months for Sweet Reckoning... and believe me, it would be worth the wait!

" Traveling the world in search of possible hostile Neph and eluding murderous Dukes seemed like a piece of cake in comparison to trying to be a good girl in the arms of Kaidan Rowe.
      God give me strength. "

                     My verdict?
                 4 sweetest swoony stars!
