My Review: Waterborn by Kimberly James

Waterborn
From Goodreads:

"You don’t have to choose. You can be both. The girl with the charm, the girl without. They both suit you."

Caris Harper lives a charmed life. Literally.

When her dad offers to take her to the Emerald coast of Florida for summer vacation, Caris jumps at the chance. The chance to get answers to questions she’s always been too afraid to ask. The chance to be normal. Isn’t that what her dreams have been telling her, that here in the place of her birth she can be normal? But from the first moment the wind caresses her face and the sun touches her skin, the charm begins to fade, revealing a girl Caris never knew existed, one that is anything but normal. The long-buried Song that awakens is only the beginning of a transformation that will challenge her ideas about loyalty and family.

Noah Jacobs is a waterbreather—a species of human fully adaptable to life in the water. Like his older brother Jamie, Noah wants to prove they can use their abilities and be heroes in service to their country. When a simple mission goes wrong and Jamie goes missing, Noah exiles himself to the Deep in a desperate search. MIA is a classification Noah is not ready to accept. But instinct can’t be ignored. Not when he hears her Song. Caris is not what he expects and Noah is determined to get her out of his head. Instead he finds himself acting as her mentor and the more time they spend together, the more Noah realizes he just wants Caris.

When a startling truth threatens their newly formed trust, Noah straddles the line between love and obsession while Caris struggles to find a balance between the girl she thought she was and the young woman she wants to be.

                          My Thoughts:

This book has been on my To-Be-Read and Must-Buy list for a while, so when the author offered this for Read 2 Review, I grabbed the chance! I never read anything about sea creatures... well, except for Little Mermaid which I watched as a kid. ( I love Ariel! ..and now I am hearing "Part of my world" playing inside my head! haha. )

I just loved the cover of this book! There's something ethereal about it.Under the sea or the deep was entirely a different world.  It was vast ..deep ...and for me, very mysterious. Many times , this question crossed my very curious mind: Are there any "life forms" underneath other than the sea creatures we are familiar with? Stories of long ago tells us there are mermaids, a half human , half fish...if it was true, then we are never alone?

I loved  how Ms. Kimberly James described everything in this book. It  opened all my senses. I was surprised I felt the waves like it was slowly caressing my feet ... when the wind blew, I felt it touch my face...and smelled the salty air. Yes, it was that good!  When  Caris Harper  set her foot to Emerald Coast, I  feel I was with her too.

Raised by her Dad alone, Caris Harper felt incomplete and never normal. When her father brought her to their beach house at Emerald Coast, she felt something.   She heard something  ...as if the Deep was calling her. The  moment it touches her feet , she felt a pull... and  released a Song.. her song.  Caris has her Song and not just an ordinary song, it's a song of a Siren, a water breather. A powerful song that attracts its chosen recipient even against his will. There's no other choice but to follow and obey.

After Noah's brother , Jaime went missing, he took it really hard. Harboring all the guilt , he became a recluse and choose to live in the Deep. It was only when he heard that distinct Song, her call that drove him to resurface even against his will. He can't  even ignore it... who is she?  Anger and resentment filled him as he goes ashore.... and found Caris lying , eyes closed near the beach. There is really something about this girl, and he can't help it ...he kissed Caris. And Caris thought that this gorgeous guy was nothing but a dream.  This is where their story begins...

So, it's like a mermaid and ...mer-man story? Well, not exactly. For starters, Caris  ( I just loved the name!) doesn't even know that she's a water breather / siren! She can't even swim?! ( Oh, yeah, how ironic huh?! ) ...and as opposed to how we picture out our typical mermaid with long ,beautiful ,flowing hair? Caris'  hair doesn't grow long ?! So, it's always pixie hair for her. It's a bummer specially when you are constantly tease that you might be a boy?! I could imagine Caris to feel a little insecure, herself.

And now, let's talk about Noah, oh he is a pretty boy ! Uhmm, I mean ,  a hot water breather! ( like most of the other  water breathers! Hah! ) Yes, there's more of them!  Imagine, lean , just the  right amount of muscle mass on just the right places....*closing my eyes* yeah, I assume a swimmer's body  like ...Michael Phelps?! Tee-hee!  and I forgot to mention, Noah has this glorious long , long hair...like...like.. hmmm.. Brad Pitt from "Legends of the Fall" ( only longer! Hah!) I admit, I'm not really into the super long hair  type of guy... but if Noah looks like this???  I won't complain! hehe!

No matter how much Noah tried to avoid Caris,  he always end up within her proximity. Well, he can't shut down that song that keeps on bugging inside his head, right? Suprisingly, he felt protective of her. Caris is also drawn to this boy who she rescued from a bunch of losers who tried to beat him up and cut off his hair. ....wait! hair?! What's with this hair thing?!  Curious , are we? Well, you have ro read this book to find it out yourself. I tell you, you'll have a lot of time ( or pages) to know everything  once you started reading this one. It's a long book! 1,300 plus pages on my bookreader!  Oh it's a huge book...but believe me, you'd love every page of it! I never get bored from page one to last. ( I actually want more!)

I love the pace of the story. It was really descriptive that will sucked you into the story. I don't even know how to swim ( yeah, it's a bummer. Sigh.) but when Noah gave Caris her swimming lessons, I felt   I was actually learning to swim!  ( oh yeah! With a water breather ...a hottie? )

The moment Caris went and embrace the deep after knowing the truth about who she was... she felt she finally belong. The charm weakened then her  hair grew longer, she actually had gills and a web on her foot.. like a water breather . I had a dream-like moment as I read this part.

I just loved their underwater moments. The kisses... and literally playing with a pod of dolphins?!  It was way ..way... Swoony! I could totally imagine that scene.. like this... Swoony..swoony..swoony!

This new, unexplored  slowly growing something she had for Noah gave her mixed feelings. There is hesitation.  She knew  she was falling for him...but Noah?  Did he really felt the same or is it because of her Song? Because he had no choice?  And Noah, will he still felt the same for her if  there is no Song?  All these questions are about to get their answers  as these two learned about self discovery, friendship, love, trust , what family truly means and making a choice.

Overall, it was a wonderful read. The ending  is what I had in mind. It was perfect! I  would  be so  looking forward to what's next for both Noah and Caris.

If you are a firm believer of "Happily Ever Afters" like I do... and won't mind swimming ( and probably drown?!)  in an ocean of Swoons with equally lovable water breathers like Noah and Caris... then what are you waiting for? Dive ..ooops! I mean, grab this book fast  and be captivated like I did.

                       I'm giving this book:

                     4  Swoony Seaside stars!

Teaser
The next morning Victoria was surprised to find it drizzling outside. She snuggled further under the quilt but when she reached over for Levi, he wasn’t there. She groggily opened her eyes and started to sit up looking for him, but he wasn’t inside the small cabin.
Wrapping the quilt around her body she shuffled over to the window to look out and see Levi rearranging some things in the truck. She opened it slightly and called out to him, “Morning, did you have breakfast yet?”
He waved back at her, there was mud down his jeans but he looked relaxed and almost cheerful. “No not yet. I’m trying to get down to the main house to get us some, it was included with our stay. God damn truck is stuck in the mud.”
Victoria sighed deeply, so much for getting to see the small town that was close by. “Well I packed some snacks.”
He smiled back at her and shrugged his shoulders and walked into the cabin taking off his muddy boots upon arrival. He walked over to Victoria and delivered a light kiss on the cheek, “How did I get so lucky?”
She smiled back at him devilishly, “Can’t tell ya. So what’s the grand plan for today vacation planner?”
He laughed at her teasing, “You’ll just have to wait and see won’t you?”
She set her lips into a thin line, Victoria didn’t like surprises very much.
“Don’t worry about it. Just eat your granola bar.”
After they ate and Victoria had gotten dressed Levi led her to the back of the cabin to a small trail. “I think you’re really going to enjoy this.”
They walked through the cool spring air while trees shed sprinkles on them. They walked in silence, hand-in-hand over small rocks and twigs, through the mud until Victoria finally heard rushing water. “Is that a waterfall?”
Levi smiled at her. “Nope. I did you one better.”
As they continued to walk they came upon a clearing with a small hot spring receded into the ground. There were rocks set up around it clearly put there by nature while others had been moved by people to keep clothes dry and supplies away from the steam. Victoria smiled and pushed Levi playfully. “You know I didn’t bring a bathing suit!”
Levi kissed her on the lips pushing his body against hers, “Of course I know that.” He quickly began to strip, taking his hoodie and shirt off in a flash. Victoria watched with interested eyes as he turned to her, his tanned muscles rippling beneath the light rain. He walked over to her and wrapped his hands around her body to bring her closer. “You’re going to join me, right?” He whispered hotly in her ear.

My Review: Sleepless ( Bird of Stone # 1 ) by Tracey Ward

Sleepless (Bird of Stone, #1)
From Goodreads:
My name is Alex Mills and I have a superpower.

Don't be jealous, it sucks. I can't control it. My mind is a mutinous SOB that takes over when I go to sleep. I'm just a girl trying to get some shut eye while it decides to throw a rager that can land me just about anywhere in the world.

The base of the Eiffel Tower.
The shore on the coast of Ireland.
The third baseline at Wrigley Field.

Sounds exciting and fun right? Wrong. My not so superpower is unpredictable, uncontrollable and annoying as hell.
It's also how I met Nick.

Every cloud has a silver lining. Nick is mine.

Nick is extraordinary as well. He can't feel fear. Never has, never will. It's worked out for him enlisting in the military, but where it's not helpful is with his social skills. Nick is cold, distant and apathetic.

He's also my hero. And if he's to be believed, I'm his.

I first met him when he died and that wasn't even the weirdest moment of our relationship. Neither is this moment here and now, trapped together in an island prison on the Behring Sea. It's a long, strange story between his death and this prison. One full of sheep, docks, Jabberwocks and a very special stone. I could tell it to you if you'd like to hear it. I've got time...

                              My Thoughts:

This got to be the longest time I finished a single book. Normally, it's 3 to 4 days tops, but this one? I think I've been reading  for a week?! Either it's a long book? ( 1,100 plus pages) Or the story is so dragging? ( Me losing interest every now and then?! ) ....but my answer is NEITHER! Yes, it's quite a big book...but still I can handle! And it's not dragging or boring at all!  So what could be the reason? I got this annoying , bugging Sore throat with its evil twin, the FLU! And it's taking all my energy , even just to open my eyes?! Imagine, the hassle and irritation it gave me not to read that much?!

I find myself smiling as I look at the title, "SLEEPLESS". I should be sleepless when I'll read this? But the got the opposite instead?! I fell asleep for many times I could not even count?! So, the title? really? how fitting?! hehe. And I blamed all of these to sore throat and flu! Ugh.

SO, back to my review. I don't wanna bore you or do I need to explain more?! Probably not. ( because you are so raising your eyebrows or rolling your eyes right now?! Haha. )

First, I wanna say I absolutely loved the cover. Just look at it! It gave me the "swoon-bumps". There is a word like that?! Yeah, in Billie's dictionary ,there is! Hehe. I just love looking at it, a boy and a girl in a meadow kissing? Awww. my swoon-bumps begin to tingle! You might tell me : A normal  girl and a boy kissing on a meadow is so cliche?!  Or you'll remind me about Bella &  Edward ( Twilight) on that meadow scene?! Hmmm... not you got me thinking! But.... surprise , surprise! It's not the same! Although, this ones a paranormal story.. Alex ( that's her) and Nick ( that's him! ) are so unlike Bella and Edward. Thank goodness!  ( I'm not against Twilight, people... I watch and read the whole series! )

Alex and Nick were  never "normal". Alex "Slips" which means she  teleports to each dream she had. Yes, she can dream going to a place and found herself waking up in the actual place! First, I would  say that  teleportation is a really cool ability to have. Just imagine, you can go to any place you like without all the fuss of buying a plane ticket or applying for a visa? Sometimes, I even daydream of having that" power"! But for Alex? She totally hates it. Or more so afraid she can't control her slippings. Who wouldn't be afraid if she sometimes would end up in one of the dangerous places?! In a unfamiliar woods or who knows mafia -gangsta infested warehouses?! How can she defend herself? She obviously can't . So, she runs and pray that she wakes up in her own bed. I could just imagine how Alex feels.. terrified ...and never normal.

Even her parents can't accept her. The only consolation was her sister, Cara was always there for her. So, most of the nights she slips until she gets into a recurring scenario... in a lake ..and a guy named Nick. You think that he's just a figment of her imagination/dream? He is not and definitely as real as she is! The problem was , Nick does not know that. he thought , Alex is just ... A dream. .his dream girl. It made me think , what's the special connection between these two?

Oh, Nick was special too, and he has a secret. He can't feel fear. And that's far from normal...but comes in handy since he joined the Pararescue Jumpers (PJ) . I have never heard about this, till now. And to jump out there into the dangers below? To save? It is a noble job. Nick did it so well and survived it all during his training. I love how the author describe even the  most complex technicalities . It makes me appreciate the PJ's , and it is not a piece of cake to be one! One of my favorites was the H.A.L.O.  ( High Altitude Low Opening) jump. It was really badass!

When these two seems to meet in their every dream, something magical happened. They slowly felt something. What started out as banter... Ended up to be something. Yes, they eagerly look forward to their little rendezvous.  And Nick who seems to be that " unfeeling".. do something ..romantic?! By changing  their dreamscape? Think about sailing in a boat beneath those stars?! Changing the colors of waters? It's magical... and really swoony! I love how  Ms. Tracey Ward wrote it...it was so vivid, I could easily picture it out! And one of the best things I look in a book. It was really dream-like and  I would loved to be inside that scene!

So, you would think this was some kind of a love story? And what follows next was this phrase: ...and they lived happily ever after? Think again. Falling in love inside your dream seems complicated? But it will get more bizzare if Alex did return back to her reality carrying  Nick with her ? Imagine, the shock and confusion Nick would feel waking up to  different place and besides the very real Alex?! As controlled as himself , Nick would definitely freak out!

And their adventure begins! As far as they want to keep their special abilities hidden... they can't control what happens next. Somebody knows... And somebody wants to use that ability!

I admit the 1st  50% of the book is quite slow...the next half and up to the end? Way different. It was heart pounding. And yes! This is where the action begins! And there's the Jabberwocky! Yes ! A dragon!! This is  it! I screamed and even kicked something ! It was an action adventure rolled into one! Again, I want to say, Wow! Ms. Tracey Ward! That's really really good! *claps hands!*

The ending made me groan...yes! Groan loudly! What?!!! Seriously? A cliffhanger like that?! Arrrrrgh!!!! Why is it when I'm beginning to enjoy a scene ( or a page?!) ...that it has to end abruptly?!! And I'm at the best part ?! What happens next????!!! I NEED TO KNOW!!

                  I'm giving this book:
           4 swoon-tastic adventure stars!

The hardest part of being a werewolf is to have no control and no memory of her time as a bloodthirsty beast. Check out this excerpt:

“Is this normal?” Mackenzie asked in a whisper not wanting to wake Liam. She figured sleeping was probably the only way to keep the pain away.
“Yes. Every bitten Were goes through this. You did, but the body shuts the mind off for a reason. His bones are breaking and healing. Cartilage is shifting or growing. Muscles are stretching. It’s a whole process that the body goes through. The only thing to do now is wait.”
“Okay. I’ll be right back.” Waiting might be part of the process, but maybe she could make him more comfortable. He may not recognize what she was doing, but she did.
Grabbing a bucket of cool water, a washcloth, and some blankets, she went back to the den. Margret and Geoff stood off to the side, whispering with one another so low that even with her super hearing, she couldn’t tell what they were saying.
“I am so sorry, Liam. You can’t hear me, but I won’t leave you. We can figure this whole thing out together. You are not alone.” Her voice was soft and she knew the others could hear her, but she didn’t care.
Dipping the cloth into the cool water then ringing it out, she placed it on his forehead.
“Mack? Come on. Let’s leave Margret to deal with this. You need to rest.” Geoff stood so close she could feel his breath on her neck. As much as she wanted to turn around to see how close he was and to go wherever he asked her to, asshole or not, she couldn’t leave Liam. He was her responsibility. She would be his sire. He needed her.
“I can’t leave him. Not yet.” Tears slipped from her eyes but for the first time in ages, she didn’t wipe them away or force herself to stop. Someone needed to grieve for his lost life even if no one knew it was gone yet.

My Review : Pushing The Limits by Katie McGarry

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)
From Goodreads:

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with freaky scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal.

But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.

Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

                     My Thoughts:

I'm so glad I choose this book for my reading challenge. This book has been sitting on my shelf for awhile.  And when I read it, I was like, why did I wait this long ?! Oh, right... I was distracted  ( as always! ) by sooo many books coming out?!  This book  was really great !  I found myself instantly into the story.

Normally, I  try to stay away from highly emotional reads.. But this one? I literally can't tore my eyes from it. It gets better and better each page as emotion keeps  coming!

Noah and Echo are two opposite side of the coin. Noah Hutchkins known as a girl using , stoner boy with trouble tailing him like a shadow and Echo Emerson is  a good , obedient daughter, an achiever for excellence. But looks could be deceiving. Opposite side of the coin but still sharing the same coin. What makes them the same? They both want to be normal. Yes. Normal.

Noah wants  nothing but to have a normal family. After a house fire took the lives of his parents, leaving him to a number of foster parents  and got separated with his brothers...everything is never normal and everyday is a battle and struggle. And where can he get his temporary refuge? From his friends, Isaiah and Beth  who happens to use  drugs to temporary forget their  crappy situations. But drugs doesn't solve anything. When it leaves his system... all he can think is his brothers...and he wants them back. But how?

Echo used to be an  "it girl" , with a popular friends and  of course.. a popular boyfriend.  Everything went  downstream  after a night  which she can't remember but left her literally scarred . Everyone at school seems to avoid her and worst talks behind her back. Rumors keep following her... what are the scars for? Did she cut herself? Attempted suicide? Or something else? An answer that she wants to know and maybe will make her feel normal again. By then all she has to was to keep those scars hidden under her jacket .. and wished she could hid herself as well?

I feel very sorry for both of them. It's hard not to fit in...  not be accepted.  I can't even imagine going through with what either both of them are experiencing. Reading this book opened my eyes and squeezed my every emotions.  I saw the pains both Echo and Noah  has  to face to  get their answers. Echo : the Truth. Noah : his brothers.

When these two are brought together. Sharing the same counselor ( or Shrink?! ), Ms Collins, both should work together.. If Noah wanted to be with his brothers, he should at first clean his act a.k.a get good grades. So, enter Echo, the perfect tutor. As for Echo? She needs money to rebuild his late brother, Aires car ( which means so much to her) ...so, tutoring is a good idea. But tutoring Noah? Uhm, let me rephrase it, tutoring the quintessential hot bad boy Noah?! Can be irritating and a serious distraction! Nobody can ignore his charms not even Echo.

“Guys like Noah Hutchins ticked me off. He used girls, used drugs and had made me feel like crap this morning. Not that I should be surprised. I’d had a couple of classes with him last semester. He’d stride into the room like he owned the earth and smirk when girls fell all over themselves in his presence. “What a jerk.”

Clearly, smart girls like herself should avoid Noah at all cost. But  then , why does she keep on checking him out? And why does his closeness made her feel things she never felt before?

“My insides had melted when Noah produced his wicked grin and gazed at me like I was naked. Luke used to give me butterflies. Noah spawned mutant pterodactyls.”

Mutant Pterodactyls?! I was smiling. I never heard  or seen that term before?! Very clever, Ms. McGarry! Gonna add that to my vocabulary for sure! Haha.

Noah and Echo work closely together... to their one goal... to find their answers.. to get their hands into Ms. Collins' files.  I just  love how this book was written. Ms. Katie McGarry has a unique way to make you totally engrossed and  like Echo and Noah, I wanna know, what's on those files ...almost desperately! I can't put down this book! Many times I held even held my breath, what if what's inside will destroy or break  them? Specially, Echo? Oh, I get carried away! See?! Ms. Katie McGarry...you are soooo good!!!

As they plan for it, the more they get to know each other... and the more they beginning to feel something...and it scares them... mostly Noah, who thinks that love only belongs to what he has for his brothers. He felt something for Echo. He knows it was love. And he wants to say it.. or at least  in his thoughts. It was difficult...to say it loud.

“This girl owned my soul and stole my heart. She’d opened herself to me, giving me love and never asked for anything in return. I deepened our kiss, the words I love you stuck in my mind.”

Ahhhhhh.... this is killing me!!!  What's going on between them was simple. It was L-O-V-E! But around them? And totally affecting them? Way complicated.  And when the truth was finally out? It was pure Drama and overflowing with emotions. I have to hold tight and get a grip before I see myself drown.

I love how  they both faced it. I was surprised, both handled it maturely.  Knowing the truth ...forgiveness... and acceptance... it was beautiful!  This should be the part that  I should cry? I was forewarned before I started to read this book: I need a lot of Kleenex. But I didn't. Nope. No physical tears. But my inside.. the most important part of me  ...my heart, cried. I think no Kleenex could ever wipe .  And I don't mind... because my heart cried happy tears...

Love, loved this book! Thank you  Ms. Katie McGarry!

I'm giving this book:

4 wonderful emotion overload kind of stars!

Blurb :
KYLIE RIPPONS is a SpongeBob pajama bottom wearing, Dodge Ram 1500 4×4 driving, USDA certified klutz, coffee-addicted mortal, seeking a normal life despite the constant harassment of gods and the ability to braid time.

Kylie sees actions and consequences as bright, shining timelines in her head. Born with the power to gather the strings and braid them into a new chain of events, she is the weapon of choice for many pantheons in their never ending wars. But using the ability requires fuel, and for a mortal, it means a piece of her soul.

One Mesopotamian goddess, the only forsaken Valkyrie, and a rogue, immortal, Berserker ally with Kylie. Constant harassment forces the group to take drastic action, and go on the offensive. She must braid time to save friends, and herself, as the gods drive them into situations in which she must choose: braid time, save her friends, and lose pieces of her mortal soul, or become slave to the pantheon of her choice.

Deception by an old friend sends Kylie fleeing to her parents’ home, where she hid her son, Riot. She’s too late, the gods found Riot and hold him hostage. Searching for him, Kylie experiences the most devastating betrayal of all.

Kylie faces her worst nightmare: kill a friend and permanently hide Riot, leaving him motherless, or become a slave in exchange for his safety, leaving her soulless and insane.

If only the gods allowed for personal choice.

Curious about her book? Here is an excerpt :

The headache started, pounding to the rhythm of my heartbeat. I silently begged to faint, but the power demands payment. There is no credit card or forgiveness for changing the strings of time. It doesn't care I only braided a mere twenty minutes. The ledger must always remain in the black.
“Hey, good looking,” a masculine voice called.
Bloody hell. I glanced around, hoping someone else pulled up and captured the guy's attention. No such luck. The truck and Ferrari remained the only two cars at the pumps. I cursed silently while ignoring him. The earthy smell surrounded me, filled with green things, sun and a summer's breeze.
                “Do you ignore everyone?”
I jumped. I turned to find a tall, muscular, handsome male. Long brown hair streaked with various shades of silver, and a well-trimmed gray beard carted streaks of brunette, giving the impression of a mature man. He wore a black, faded AC/DC t-shirt, shabby blue jeans and black boots. His ice blue eyes caught my attention and held it.

The last one disappeared, leaving Aki to stand in the middle, turning slowly, the image of a grizzly bear superimposed over his form. He fell forward, hands out to catch himself. Blood splashed upwards in a graceful and grotesque arc, covering his upper body and face. He sat on his feet, sword laid carefully over his thighs, chin resting on the massive chest.
“Do not mock me,” his voice low and tight.
“Mocking you? Me? Nooo. I genuinely disdain you and all you stand for.” The threads vibrated, the need to braid becoming almost impossible to resist. The secondary ability rushed to the surface of my skin.
Come on, you big bastard, touch me, I thought.
“Do not doubt that I will hurt you for such disrespect!” Spittle landed on my cheek.
“Can't disrespect what I never respected in the first place. Thought you guys were supposed to have a superior intellect.” My palms began to melt the plastic ties.
Come on, come on, before I lose control.

His hand wrapped around my throat and squeezed. My wrists popped apart and I grabbed his forearm, the power sliding over him as the heat from my palms burned his skin. He jerked, but it was too late.

  Book & Author details:

Say When by Tara West
(Something More #1)
Publication date: July 19th 2013
Genres: New Adult, Romance

Synopsis:
He told me to say when, but I can’t. Not with Andrés. It’s so hard to say anything when he’s trailing feather soft kisses down my neck, or when his touch sends hot currents of lust rippling across my skin.

Then there’s the way he smiles and offers soft words of encouragement when I’m creating art, almost like he believes I have talent.

He’s not like any guy I’ve ever met. Not like my ex-fiancée. Not like my father. He’s got me thinking that maybe we can have something more. More than just lust, degradation, and abuse.

And now I’m scared, because that means I’ll have to trust him with more than just my body, but with my heart, too.

                   My Review:

Christina Duval. Prim and proper ,always the obedient daughter, always the good girl , never thought would break all the rules when she give in to what she really wants.  Afterall, She was tired of her gold digging Mom running her life and forcing her into marrying Jackson, who's mere touch makes her wanna throw up?!

On the night of her 21st birthday,  feeling a little  rebellious enough she  ended her engagement to Jackson...and decided to loosen up and have a little fun with her best friend  Karri ( who happens to be a druggie?!).Just when their car broke down, a knight in shinning armor came into the rescue. Uhmm, well not exactly a knight but a hot Latino mechanic who happens to be an ex-army too! And when I mean hot, I mean it literally!

Never ever felt like her body is about to get burned just  mere looking at this Latino Adonis. I was a little taken back also with Christina's reaction, I mean , she is prim and proper , right? But  I don't really blame her because Andres was really ... a sight to behold!

“Happy birthday, Christina,” he says. I love the way my name rolls off his tongue and sends a ripple of heat across my skin, like pouring warm chocolate fudge over cool vanilla ice cream .”

Well...looking at hot Andres... Hmmm.. It's indeed a "Happy birthdayyyyyyy, Christina!  There's is an undeniable pull of attraction between these  two! And when they touch..it was spontaneous combustion! Andres' touch  and kisses burns. Christina never felt so alive! And it was supposed to be one night of no strings attached sex. But why  does she wants something more? And why does she wants Andres that bad that he's always on her mind?

If I just look at it in a much simpler way : Girl meet boy. They get intense. Both fell in love. End of story. But life will never be that simple. Sigh. Something always pulls them back. Christina's being "groomed" by her social climber mother to have a "wonderful" life. And by definition a wonderful life means becoming some trophy wife of a wealthy husband! Yes, her mom is really a pain in the....?! I wonder if she'll have a heart attack when she finds out that her daughter is getting serious with a Latino mechanic?!

I love it when Christina finally left her "Cobra" Mom ( Yes! I can't stand her! ) and go after what she truly wants... to paint which is her passion ...and uhhhhmmm, of course continue seeing Andres who stirs every single desire on her body!

This book was definitely a page turner , I've read and finished it within a day. Plus it got an alternate POV's between Christina and Andres which is really good . No more guessing what's inside their heads. And I love how their inner conflicts were resolved at the end.

If you are looking for a light read with enough swoon to make you smile and steamy scenes that will make you fan yourself a little vigorously.. Pick this book now!

           I'm giving this book :

           4 Delicious stars!
