My Review : Best Kind of Broken by Chelsea Fine

Best Kind of Broken (Finding Fate, #1)
From Goodreads:
Pixie and Levi haven't spoken in nearly a year when they find themselves working―and living―at the same inn in the middle of nowhere. Once upon a time, they were childhood friends. But that was before everything went to hell. And now things are... awkward.

All they want to do is avoid each other, and their past, for as long as possible. But now that they're forced to share a bathroom, and therefore a shower, keeping their distance from one another becomes less difficult than keeping their hands off each other. Welcome to the hallway of awkward tension and sexual frustration, folks. Get comfy. It’s going to be a long summer.

                                    My Thoughts:

After reading Ms. Chelsea Fine's The Archers of Avalon Series, I instantly fell in love with her books! The characters were all unforgettable and made me swoon big time! So, when my BFF informed me that  Ms. Fine has a new book...and it was offered as READ NOW from Netgalley, I was more than ecstatic!

I love this book!  It  exceeded my expectations which was pretty high?! Hehe. After flipping just few pages, there... there's the signature "Chelsea Fine Swoony-ness"! Even the  banters between Levi and Pixie are swoony enough to make me giddy and keep asking for more! Oh, and Ms. Fine keeps giving me more! YES! *me doing the happy the dance right now*

I love the way it was written. Almost 30 to 40 percent of the book, I keep on  wondering what happened between Pixie and Levi?  Why the awkwardness? And why oh  why do they have to repress their "feelings"  when it was plain as day  that they felt  really something special?! I was betting on , maybe an unrequited love? But as I moved along, one by one , piece by piece the truth was unfold.  Oh, my heart broke. How tormented these two after that single incident. I could not  imagine how they both carry that burden. And now I understood how they choose to fight than to talk about it.

This was clearly an angsty story. It was supposed to crash / smash your heart. But I'm glad how the author put a balance on everything. Like there's a right amount of "Arrrgh I wanna pull my hair out" moments and some "gosh I am melting / swooning / smiling  right now  moments. I love love it!

I have a lot of favorite moments . Pixie  and Levi's game of mischief? The one involving Levi's electric razor which resulted to half shaven-half scruffy face? That's super funny! I am giggling like a hyena! ( OH! Hyenas don't giggle?! ). Even the awkward staring showdown at the bathroom?  Oh, I forgot to mention, they share the same bathroom?! And no they don't live together, I mean not the together-together like... you know  what I mean? It's just they happen to work on the same Inn that offers them a free place to stay. Levi the handyman and Pixie works at the kitchen. That. Arrangement.  ...which means more bumping into each other...and more ...more somethings. Awkward. Awkward.

“Sexual tension is like a ruthless pigeon. Feed it once and it will follow you around forever. It never tires or goes on vacation. It just lingers.”

There's no denying that they are drawn to each other. The attraction was very palpable. I can sense it...gosh ! If I can smell it, it was really there! But why are they putting on restraints? Arrrrrrgh! <---- Now that's one of the Arrgh moments!

There is this  one moment I want to shook  these  two  really hard so that they'll realized that all they need to do was TALK about it?! As simple as that! But well, it seems like I'll be in this "torture zone for a while. Arrrgh! Oh, and they have to deal with this.... "pent up" , growing, undeniable "something" between them?!

Ahhh.. when they finally do.. I am thanking the power shortage? Because ,in the dark... Levi and Pixie...?? Oh! Anything can possibly happen! And yes! Another favorite of mine: the oh-so-sexy "ankle massage"!! Believe me, I never looked at the ankle massage to be that... uhmm, stimulating! haha!  AND  the "shower scene" ? That shower scene?! Don't get me started! Imagine the fire alarm screaming?! Nope. Did not even  believed  it's a fire drill?!  Haha. Ms. Chelsea Fine, you...you're really "something" ! Love . Love it! I keep on mentioning "somethings", haven't I? "SOMETHING" means wonderful!!

I love the ending. It involves  down pouring rain and Levi standing in the middle of the road. It was a perfect movie moment for me. ( I  admit I am a sucker for this "rain thing" ! ) I even shed a tear... and eventually smiled followed by a long Awwwwwwwwww!  Love. loved it.

I can go on and on about the things that I love about this book, but I'll keep it down and well, NO SPOILERS of course! One way to find out, go grab this book once released. I am hundred percent sure you'll have your own favorite moment and somethings! Trust me.

             I'm giving this book:
4 wonderful "LEXIE" (Levi-Pixie) stars!

My Review: Foreplay by Sophie Jordan

Foreplay (The Ivy Chronicles, #1)
From Goodreads:
Pepper has been hopelessly in love with her best friend’s brother, Hunter, for like ever. He’s the key to everything she’s always craved: security, stability, family. But she needs Hunter to notice her as more than just a friend. Even though she’s kissed exactly one guy, she has just the plan to go from novice to rock star in the bedroom—take a few pointers from someone who knows what he’s doing.

Her college roommates have the perfect teacher in mind. But bartender Reece is nothing like the player Pepper expects. Yes, he’s beyond gorgeous, but he’s also dangerous, deep—with a troubled past. Soon what started as lessons in attraction are turning both their worlds around, and showing just what can happen when you go past foreplay and get to what’s real…

            My Thoughts:

The characters are lovable. Pepper is just sweet and a darling. Innocence was clearly written all over her. Despite of her not so stellar childhood, with a mother who abandoned her, she was still lucky enough to have  good friends who treated  her like family.

Pepper had a clear goal in mind : Make Hunter,  her long time crush to finally notice her as "girlfriend-worthy" not just his younger sister's  best friend.  It would be easier if Pepper know the "moves"?  The only problem  : on the scale of 1 to 10 on The art of seduction , our Pepper will probably score a 0.5?! Yes! That low! Super fail!  She needs intervention, ASAP! So, with the help of her brilliant friends,  ( I love them! ) they made a plan : Pepper's crash course to The Art of Seduction?! ...haha, or to put it lightly  teach Pepper , Foreplay! And what's the easiest way to learn it? HANDS-ON TRAINING! ....and who got these great, wonderful  hands ( with a body of sin?! hawt!) ??

Enter Reece "the uber sexy, stroke-worthy bartender", who happens to be the one who rescued  her when her car broke down.....and who happens to be good in fixing things ( a handy man! )....and ( yes! a lot of "and'!) who happens to be really good with kids?! Oh, I can go on and on ...and enumerate those other "things" he is good at!  ( I know, I know your mind is really going somewhere right now?! Hah! ). Test subject : Locked. Now, the only problem was, how can Pepper get him to teach her?

Of course he noticed the "good Girl" green light flashing on Pepper's forehead like a neon sign!Oh I love Pepper's efforts to get noticed! It was cute , funny...and totally effortless?! Haha! No wonder this "elusive" eye candy was drawn to her charm!

I love the chemistry between these two! Okay, I think Hunter was also good for Pepper...but Reece was perfect for her! And you can see  and feel that there is really something going on during their...uhhmmnn.."private lessons"!
“Take off your clothes.” The request was anything but casual, and yet he uttered it as though he were asking me to pass the salt.
An odd strangled sound rose up in my throat. I fought it, pushed it back down, and tried for speech that sounded halfway normal. “What?”

“Swallowing, I asked, “Isn’t that kind of skipping foreplay and getting right to it?”
“I’m the one with the experience. Are you going to trust me?”

Gosh, if anyone can teach foreplay sooooo well?! Reece would always be my guy! No wonder Pepper seems to be "affected" with those..uhmm, lessons? There's no denying how her body reacts..to his kisses, to his touch?

What did one say after her first orgasm? Can I have another, please?”

Oh. My. Gawd. Foreplay = Orgasm?!  The hottest lesson I've ever read! I can't even control my blushes! Yes! "Blushes", like in plural form?!

And when she finally get to know the "real" Reece ...and Hunter starting  to "noticed" her , everything gets complicated. Ahhhh.. now choose, Pepper! Choose, wisely ,girl!

Well, if you ask me, I'll definitely choose......of course Reece?! But how about our sweet Pepper? If you want to find out... you gotta read this book  ! I promise you there's no angst ( you can let your heart relax!) , there will a lot of feel good moments ( and bonus hot moments in between?!) that will surely make you feel giddy, feverish?! ( oh yeah! ) light headed...and grin like a sixteen year old girl!

My Review Unteachable by Leah Raeder

Unteachable
From Goodreads:
I met him at a carnival, of all corny places. The summer I turned eighteen, in that chaos of neon lights and cheap thrills, I met a man so sweet, so beautiful, he seemed to come from another world. We had one night: intense, scary, real. Then I ran, like I always do. Because I didn’t want to be abandoned again.

But I couldn’t run far enough.

I knew him as Evan that night. When I walked into his classroom, he became Mr. Wilke.

My teacher.

I don’t know if what we’re doing is wrong. The rules say one thing; my heart says screw the rules. I can’t let him lose his job. And I can’t lose him.

In the movies, this would have a happy ending. I grow up. I love, I lose, I learn. And I move on. But this is life, and there’s no script. You make it up as you go along.

And you don’t pray for a happy ending. You pray for it to never end.

                My  Thoughts:

Overthrown by a massive wave of emotions, I was left dumbfounded ....and words ..words I was wanting to say ...just stuck up or got lost somewhere? I felt my knees so weak just like the ones we felt right after riding a roller coaster? I am wobbly, I can't stand straight ..and I have to leaned back or hold on to something... that's the exact feeling I got after reading this book. I never expected a book to do something as nerve wrecking as this. It was... it was.... both exciting and gave me the scare of  my life!

“You’re pretty brave,” .... sitting up front by yourself.”

Those words brought Maise and Evan together. In a carnival. On a roller coaster ride. To face their fears.  To overcome it.  But never did they expect that  they will do this together...in the other aspect of their lives.  What seems to be a casual hook up  ...end up into something more... Complicated. Maise is not  a typical teen.. she was troubled. Raised by a drug dealing / using single mom , Maise used hooking up / sleeping with grown up men as something to fill that void. I was shocked that this girl can do those things so casually. But then as I said, Maise was never a typical teen. Life has been hard for her...even forcing her to grow up. Then, there's Evan.

There's something different with Evan... She felt it...she panicked ...so she ran away. But that beautiful man , mesmerized her ...and really hard to forget.

“the lips that looked made for poetry and murmuring sweet French nothings in cologne commercials. Je te veux, mon chéri. But now there was a whole face to go with them, and that face—oh my god. You know when a swimmer gets out of a pool, and they’re radiant and flushed, mouth open a little, eyelashes dewy and sparkling, squinting like they’ve just come back from another world? He had that look, permanently. Like he wasn’t really from here. He was some beautiful thing coming up from a beautiful place, squinting amiably at our brightness and filth”

.....that beautiful man also happened to be her teacher. I know, awkward right? But she literally  fought her way just to be in that film class. No way she's going to back out now?!  Besides , it was just " one night of intense , mindblowing sex?!" Yeah. Right.  But the looks they had when their eyes met , said something  more.  ...would they give in or will they lose control? When they both knew ...it was forbidden.

I just love the way this book was written. I admit I was not really a fan of the super angsty ones ( this one's loaded with a lot! ) ...but this book? I am hooked from the very beginning! Teacher-student relationship was never new to me since I already read books with same theme. I was expecting this to be...well, somewhat similar from what I have read before. I was wrong. This one's different. It was deep, all consuming, words can't express feelings that took me in ..drown me...making me breathless.

It was like I was there , a witness to the struggles of both Maise and Evan . And boy it was  really really messed up! I've been cussing and swearing most parts of the book! ( which was really unlikely of me?!)  . There's a lot of WTF , and more "eff" up situations! As the story goes, it seems like the angst was intensified?!  And it's non stop! I was afraid my poor heart could not handle it...or more of ...losing my sanity??? Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!  I should probably stop, before I burst?.... But no, like Maise and Evan, there's no stopping now!

“We sat there in the shadows, full of unspeakable things.
“Now I know,” he said, touching me again, “why I was drawn to you. We have the same darkness inside.”

“You don’t seem that much older than me,” I said. “Do I seem young to you?”
He kept stroking the same lock of my hair absently. “In school, you seem older than everyone. With me, you seem young. But I feel young with you, too.”
“We have no age. We exist outside of time. We’re timeless.”

Arrrrrrrrghhhhh!!!!  But she's your eff-ing  student, Mr.Wilke?!!  Ahhhhhhh!!!  This sooooo eff up!!!! And I can't believe I am screaming at my poor e-reader! Haha. Wait, I put all the blame to the wonderful , Ms. Leah Raeder! You are amazing!

The need to touch, to fuel their desire...was stronger than the fear of being caught!  So, expect the super steamy clandestine meetings!  And when I say super steamy...it was scorging steamy!

“I want to keep you. I want to hold on and never let you go.”
No one in my life had ever said anything like this to me. I felt disembodied again, but this time because my body was too full to contain me, too crowded with light and stars and shimmering galaxies like pinwheels studded with diamonds, spinning their brilliance into the void without caring whether it would ever be seen, just needing to shine. The bed beneath me was cloud, my skin a sheet of moonlight lying atop it. And this man, this amazing, impossible man, was the sun.
“You can’t, though,” I said, trying to defuse the intensity. “Remember? You can’t hold on to a shooting star.”

I love the written words...deep...poetic ...the metaphors...just beautiful!  I felt every single emotion here. But what I felt the most? Obsession. Desperation. Longing. Love?  All the same time. It was overpowering ... Overwhelming. As the climax build up, as Maise and Evan faced the inevitable. Choices have to be made. To stay ....to flee...to hold on or to let go? I was on the edge of breaking down! I sobbed...cried...

“Out of everything I ever learned from Evan Wilke, I think that lesson was the most important: that none of us actually grow up. We get bigger, and older, but part of us always retains that small rabbit heart, trembling furiously, secretively, with wonder and fear. There’s no irony in it. No semantics or subtext. Only red blood and green grass and silver stars.
“Don’t be afraid,” Evan said.

With wet tears still on my face, on the few last pages of this book, I held my breath...told myself , so this is the end? ....then something happened...

“You’re pretty brave,” the guy beside me said, “sitting up front by yourself.”
The floor fell out of the universe. I was in freefall.
I turned.”

Love. Loved it! For those who love a heavy dose drama and angst , this one is definitely  for you!

My Review: Wait For You by J. Lynn

Wait for You (Wait for You, #1)
From Goodreads:
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.

Some things are worth experiencing…

Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.

Some things should never be kept quiet…

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

And some things are worth fighting for…

                       My Thoughts:

I don't normally give my recommendation at the beggining of my reiview, but this book? YOU DEFINITELY SHOULD CHECK IT OUT! Or better yet secure a copy ! It was definitely one of  the swooniest book I've ever read ....ranking really, really close ( as in  half an inch close!) to "The Edge of Never" by J.A. Redmerski (which is my top 1! ) . Or can I make both of them my top 1 ?! Why not?! So, there! I'll make both of them my top one!

I got all giddy and very, very flustered ! Oh and  the cliche butterflies in my stomach? Believe me, it's ever present from the moment  Avery bumped into the  freaking perfect Cam up to ..... the epilogue!

Yes! Freaking perfect Cameron! This guy can bake the most delicious cookies, he makes plain eggs topnoch interesting...he prefers milk over coffee?! ( such a baby! Owwwww! But oh so adorable! ) and the MOST patient guy I know!  Would you keep on asking a girl for a date who consistently says NO ...but still ask her anyway? Not just for days but to patiently wait for months?! Yup. That's Cam! Unbelievable right? Sigh. Where can I find a guy like that?! Uhmm, definitely in Ms. J. Lynn's books! I was really , really glad picking this book up!
I love everything about this book! The moment I start reading , I really fought hard to simply put it down even just to fix myself a coffee?! ( I can't resist coffee?! ) , yes! that good!

So, forget the coffee! ....Just because ...Cam is more irresistible?! Haha.

I love the way Ms. J. Lynn wrote it, the words are flowing seamlessly . It did not take me a lot of time  be lost inside her story. The characters are very lovable. Avery intrigue me. She was uptight. What is she hiding..why is she hiding? Receiving those unsolicited really harsh text messages and emails  must be a torture...and made me really , really curious. She seems like a very sweet girl, but why did someone call her a liar?

Cam on the other hand has his own issues too but I sensed that it's not as serious as Avery even at the start...because he seems to be handling it really well. So when he started going after Avery ( and boy! was he persistent!) , I was more than happy. Avery would definitely need a strong guy like him. Though Avery tried to avoid this boy, it seems that he was really sticking to her like a super glue! And can you really avoid that devastatingly hot guy with a piercing blue eyes if he was living right across your room?! Hell to the no! Damn! The proximity? Just steps away?!  That doesn't stop there..Imagine , Cam knocking on your door and bringing you breakfast?! Awwwwwww! Now that's GOOOOOOOD morning, sweetheart! Oh, the way he calls her sweetheart? Totally sends shiver through my spine! And I love, LOVE it!!

Have I already said that there's more things to love about Cam? Or why Cam is all perfect for Avery? I will give teeny weeny bits  and try VERY hard to make this one SPOILER-free for you! Hee hee. He was knowledgeable about astronomy? Oh? you are so raising your eyebrows right now? No?! It's not about what happens inside our classrooms?! Nah-uuuuh! It involves the stars..in the sky ...okay, STAR GAZING! It screams romantic!!! ...well, romantic for us but for Avery? Awkward? Ahhhhhhhh! that girl! Sometimes, I just.. I just.... *lost for the right words?*
And have I  mentioned  that Cam still doesn't give up ? He woos Avery!!! Yes, wooooo! A guy who can bake cookies, make delicious eggs, star gazes with you??? And oh, the oh-so-sexy he does with his pen?! ( I won't elaborate how! You got to read it yourself! ) and his way of saying Good night?! *me: crazy about it!* ....Clue:  It makes me do  something a little like this:

Even the "uptight" Avery couldn't resist that one! But was she ready to share something she kept about herself for a long time? Can she trust Cam as much as he trusted her?

As her past begun to haunt her , will she face it alone or would Cam  accept her  and still choose to be with her?

Again, I love , loved this book! ( I love you more, Ms. Jennifer L. Armentrout! ---Yes! She is J. Lynn!)  It has enough of everything :  swoons ( Well, it has more than enough swoons which I knew you wouldn't mind?!) ... drama ( but not too much angst!) ...and bits of wonderful lesson about life / love  : " When to let go and what's worth waiting for" . So, do check this one  out. You'll love it from page one up to the last !

             I'm giving this book:
5 Give me some Cam-swoon-cookies right now!
