My Review : Anna and the French kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)
From Goodreads:

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

                             My Thoughts:

I've been craving  ( the term! huh! ) for a swoony and a really cutie-cutie kind of story....and this book? Totally satisfied my cravings! I can't believe that this book has been sitting on my shelves for a long time?! I'm so thankful  my friend suggested ..and convince me with these words ; this book has <Swoon-worthy> American guy who speaks British accent and fluent in French?!  No way?!!! ....Well, yes way!! Oh la la... Me grabbing the book!

And where can you find a guy like that? In Paris, France! The City of Love.. Eiffel Tower.. Notre-Dame...Point Zero... All clearly spelled romantic! I would love , love to be there... and it's one of the places I often visited ... when daydreaming! Haha.

I am thrilled just thinking about it... but not to Anna Oliphant! Anna was bummed out when she was sent to School Of America in Paris. Stranger and knowing nothing about french, she dreaded the idea of staying there. She  missed her family...her best friend,  Bridge...and her well, almost-boyfriend Toph.

But that is about to change when he literary bumped into Etienne St. Clair! ( Oui! That's the guy!! ) So, let me describe Etienne with a very minimal fangirling. ( Try harder , Billie! )  Beautiful  soft brown hair? Oui! Adorable eyes? Oui! British Accent? Oui! Overall effect : Chaud ! <----french word for hot?!  Or  would you prefer it in British?!  Etienne is bloody HAWT!  Anna, was temporarily immobilized , short of breath ... and can't  help but to gawk at this very fine creature! ( Uhmm, actually, it's me gawking at Etienne! haha. ) Even the name ..sounds swoony!  Etienne .. Etienne.. Etienne. Be still my beating heart.

Hmmmm...I would like to imagine my Etienne would look like ...( did I just say, "My Etienne?!) Swoon! swoon! Swoon!

And Anna, would be sweet looking like this...

Etienne is clearly boyfriend-material ! And Anna is single, right? ( Oh forget about Toph! --He's like, a thousand miles away!) And they would look perfect together! But whooooops! Etienne has Ellie a.k.a his girlfriend?! Whhhhaaaat?! Why are perfectly swoony guys always taken?! So unfair!

Okaayyyyy! I over react?! Haha. So, Etienne is clearly hands off now. But well, Anna just... can't help but to stare??  ( and all of the girls at their school?! )  At least, Etienne still hangs out with Anna & her new found friends ..in the ( "Posh" --- Chinaware and a Chef?! ) cafeteria? Okay, she needs a french interpreter/ translator?! or she gets to eat roasted pigeon everyday?! ( Eww!) Yes! Ordering in French has been a  daily struggle for poor Anna.

I love how Ms Stephanie Perkins wrote! . It was an easy and enjoyable read. I couldn't keep track how many times I smiled and giggled.  And I love, love the Anna-Etienne moments! It was 50% Awkward and 50% Sweet and a  swoon-fest galore! Anna's  "forget-about-the-unavailable-Etienne-and-focus-on-Toph" moments  makes everything a little complicated and interesting. Etienne  likes Anna and Anna.. is clearly lusting ( in completely YA way!) over Etienne!  : it was clear as day!  But still. But still, it cannot  be.  Arrgh! The pains of thwarted puppy love!

The writing was really good and the pace was just right. It was no surprise that I found myself inside every page. As I read along , I become Anna. I experience the joys ...the not so good and disappointing moments in her life. I found friendship and fell in love like Anna. It was really relatable . I  love ..loved it!

There are so many things to love about this book and I can go on and on! Loved the ending! Cried happy tears for both Anna and Etienne ... and my heart swelled with love!

So the question still stands. Did Anna had  the sweetest, swooniest french kiss in Paris? Go, read this book to find out ...and you'll agree  with me  that Paris indeed is the best place to fall in love.
